حظر المصرف المركزي المصري استخدام الدولار في المعاملات التجارية شراء وبيعا في مجال السلع والخدمات، وقصر التعامل على الجنيه المصري.
وحسب متابعات ميدانية لـ"العربي الجديد"، بدأ القطاع المصرفي المصري، تنفيذ توجيهات المصرف المركزي باتخاذ إجراءات لضبط عملية استخدام العملة الصعبة للمسافرين خارج مصر، من خلال بطاقات الائتمان والخصم.
