وكان تقسيم الأعمار ناتجأ عن عدم توافر المدرسة في القرية من قبل ولذلك قررت إدارة المدرسة بقبول من يتقدم من الطلاب، والسبب الثاني ان بعض الطلاب كانوا يدرسون في مدرسة الزلاق الابتدائية وعند فتح المدرسة في شهركان بادر أولياء أمورهم بنقلهم من مدرسة الزلاق الى مدرسة شهر كان ، وحيث ان أعمارهم متفاوته فقد قررت إدارة المدرسة البدء بصفين وتقسيم الأعمار تبعا لذلك.
