وتطرقت الندوة التي حظيت بمشاركة الدكتور فايز الشهري والدكتور عبدالله البريدي والكاتبة هالة عبدالله القحطاني والكاتب أمجد المنيف للتعاريف العديدة للنقد وتصنيف الأعمال الجيدة والرديئة منه، إلى جانب استعراض أنواع النقد ومنها النقد الفني المعاصر الذي اهتم بتذوق الفن وأسلوبه، والعملية الوصفية التي يأتي بعدها الإبداع، كما تناولت الندوة أنواع أخرى للنقد ومنها النقد الميت الذي لا قيمة له والنقد المميت والذي يمارس نقدية دعائية شكلية تقتات على النفاق، والنقد الحي الذي فيه تحسين للأوضاع والنقد المحيي والمتمثل في الممارسة التي يصل بها الباحث للعلل القاتلة.
