وبشكل عام تعاني حديقة الحيوانات بتعز من الإهمال نتيجة الحرب المستعرة وشحة التمويلات وذلك نتيجة لتوقف دخل الحديقة في ظل تناقص حاد جدا في أعداد الزوار مما يخيل للزائر كأنها حديقة مهجورة مما تسبب في تضاءل موارد الدخل من تذاكر الزوار فتدهور الوضع داخل الحديقة يعود في المقام الأول إلى عدم وجود دعم مادي كافي لمواجهة متطلبات الحديقة والذي يمكن أن يسهم في إعادة تطويرها في ظل ضعف الإيرادات الحالية خاصة أن عائد تذاكر الدخول في الأصل ضعيف ولا تكفي لأعمال التجديد والتطوير أو حتى التغذية الجيدة للحيوانات .
