كان إفتتاح مدرسة شهركان الإبتدائية للبنين في العام الدراسي كما بينّا أعلاه، هو بداية التعليم النظامي الحكومي لأبناء القرية والقرى المجاورة كقرى داركليب وصدد، بعد أن كانت قلة من أبناء هذه القرى يدرسون في مدرسة الزلاق الإبتدائية للبنين، وكانوا وقتها يتجشمون عناء الذهاب مشياً على الأقدام طوال العام الدراسي.
