في ظهيرة احد الأيام وبينما كان الأب وأخي عبد الجليل وانا منهمكين في جز البرسيم، فجأة ومن غير مقدمات كانت أسراب كثيرة من الجراد تحوم فوق رؤوسنا، وبعد لحظات حطت على مزروعات المزرعة،
وفي خلال دقائق لم يبق من لون خضرة المزروعات شئ. لقد أكل الجراد جميع المزروعات في لمح البصر، ووقفنا عاجزين عن فعل اي شئ حيال ذلك
