العام الدراسي 1959 - 1960 كان البداية لإفتتاح مدرسة شهر كان الإبتدائية للبنين، وكان الأمل الذي كان أهالي القرية قاطبة في انتظاره. بافتتاح المدرسة اصبح لديهم أمل لحياة قادمة ذات تحديات كبيرة وأصبح لديهم شئ مختلف لم يكونوا يحلمون بإمكانية حدوثه.
