الحكومة ضرورة مشاركة المرأة في عملية التنمية. ووفقا لدراسة اقتصادية حديثة أعدها المركز الاستشاري للاستثمار والتمويل في الدمام فإن النساء السعوديات اللائي يمثل عددهن نسبة 51 في المائة من اجمالي عدد السكان، يشكلن نسبة 7 في المائة من اجمالي القوى العاملة، وتتمركز هذه النسبة في قطاعات التعليم والطب، نظراً لأن الخيارات التعليمية المتاحة للسعوديات مقصورة على مجالات محددة، وقد طال أمد هذه العقبة نظراً لوجود عادات وتقاليد ثقافية تجعل السعوديات يعتمدن على الرجال من أفراد أسرهن حتى لتلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية في الحياة. إلا أنه مع وجود هذه المعوقات، تعتبر المرأة السعودية في وضع أفضل بكثير في الوقت الراهن عما كانت عليه قبل 63 عاما .
